She looks at me like I'm her piece on the
side
She looks at me like I'm not worth her time
She always makes me do the things she wants me to do
She always turns to me and says 'Let's try something new'
And then, why do we try do we want to be wanted?
Or do we yearn to be loved
So why do we try do we wanted to be wanted tonight?
She ties me to the bedpost when she comes
around
She's always coming up when I'm going down
She expects me to give and to never receive
You know I want to leave but she's thrown away the key...
Repeat Chorus (x2)
ABOUT THE SONG...
Well, well, well. I never thought I had it
in me. Here we have a song about dirty dirty people! Which I'm sure all
of you can relate to. Technically it's about bondage and other interesting
sexual practices, but that's not the way i think of it. It's a song about
loneliness and the desire for love, even if it's a momentary pleasure.
And it's also about me. As a child of divorce I (along with my bro) spent
my teen years trying to be noticed and recognised as human by my (tyrannical)
stepfather. So, I'd make jokes, do daft things, play up at school, all
for attention. Some say i still use that defence mechanism, but they can
all go blow a goat. So the song came about. Musically it was a play on
the song played by the band in "From Dusk Till Dawn" while Salma
Hayek is writhing around with a snake. Very erotic Spanish guitars, mixed
with The Debaser's excellent Egyptian bass line. Works fantastically.
I should also point out that this song got it's first airing in Loughborough
played live during a showing of our version of "The Birdcage"
in which i played George (the Robin Williams part in the film), but also
I used to play it acoustically at the Lamb singer's nights when they were
going... - Fil
